What we collect
Customers (people booking a bus):
- Name, email address, phone number
- Journey details: pickup and drop-off locations, dates, times, passenger count, occasion (if given)
- Payment is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details
- Technical data: IP address (used for fraud and abuse prevention)
Operators:
- Company and contact details, vehicle and coverage information
- Declared compliance dates (insurance, CVRT, PSV licence)
- Bank/payout details are held by Stripe, not by us
- Account credentials (passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text)

We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who receives it
- The Operator assigned to your booking receives your name, contact details and journey details — they need these to perform the service.
- Service providers (processors): Stripe (payments), Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (email delivery), Google (address lookup and route distance), and, where enabled, Twilio (SMS) and Meta (WhatsApp messages). Each processes data only on our instructions.
- Some providers may process data outside the EEA; where they do, transfers are protected by EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision (e.g. the EU–US Data Privacy Framework).
How long we keep it
- Booking and transaction records: 7 years (Revenue requirements)
- Operator account data: for the life of the account plus 7 years for financial records
- Rate-limiting/IP data: 12 months
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, and to data portability. Email bookings@busbroker.ie; we respond within one month. You can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Cookies
The site uses only cookies and browser storage strictly necessary to operate the service (for example, keeping operators logged in). We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
